Gumigem review, take two!

I wrote my first review of these products here a few years ago, but so I thought I’d do an updated one.

I’ve been on the mailing list for Gumigem for ages and I kept meaning to buy a new necklace, but Millie was happy enough with my original which she likes to wear as play jewellery now so I never bothered until now.

I had an email this week saying they were giving away a free bracelet with every order so I thought now was as good a time as any to buy one for Cameron to use. I’ve got to be honest, it took me about half an hour to pick as there are so many designs and colours to choose from, and in the end I narrowed it down to four…

I still couldn’t decide so Bella chose the bottom left, a button pendant called Rock ‘n’ Roll! I ordered it at lunch yesterday, and it arrived this morning, how’s that for speedy!! The necklace and (freebie) bracelet each came in their own little zipped plastic pouches so it’ll be easy to keep them clean when they’re not in use.

The button pendant on the necklace is chunkier than I’d imagined which I’m sure will be great for Cam to chew on/gum to death, and it’s on a silky cord (with a spare fastener) which I like more than the old cords which were more shoelace in texture.
As for my free bracelet, I was wondering what colour and design I’d be sent, and I’m not disappointed. I like the triangular shape, and it’s still circular inside so is very comfortable to wear. It’s also a really pretty pink colour so it’s a bonus for me when it’s not being used as a teething ‘toy’!

At the minute, what with Cameron being only 7 weeks old, I get to enjoy my new jewellery before he needs it, but I will update this post to let you know how he gets on with them! 😊

Merci Maman : my Jubilee bracelets

I was just browsing Facebook the other day, as you do, when I spotted a competition with a company called Merci Maman, this got my attention.

Merci Maman (click here to visit their website) is a company that specialises in personalised gifts, mainly jewellery but not exclusively, and to tell you the truth I’ve been eying up their necklaces and bracelets for quite a while now.

The competition, to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee last weekend, was to win not one but two bracelets. All I had to do was fill out a form, there was no question I wasn’t going to enter! Here is the photo they posted to lure us magpies in…

… two bracelets, engraved on both sides, blue with silver and red with gold! I think I might even have left it until a couple of hours before the competition closed to enter, but it was worth a shot, right?
CORRECT! The competition closed at 12pm on Friday 1st June. My phone rang at just gone 1.30pm, I’d not for one minute thought it was them calling! It was Clemence, one of the lovely ladies that works at Merci Maman, she sounded as happy as I was when she told me! I never imagined my prize(s!!) would be with me so soon, what with the bank holiday weekend just starting. Again, I was wrong!

Saturday morning, I had a knock on my door, a special delivery for me, look…

The bracelets were each in their own box, and they even came with a little card congratulating me on winning them! I didn’t waste any time putting them on, after all, it was the Jubilee weekend!
So many people have commented on these, and I am so impressed. Ok, the engraving is not perfect (notice the slightly wonky flag in the above picture?) but they’re hand engraved, which is so much more individual. I’m hoping I can purchase some personalised jewellery in the future, maybe a necklace this time? *hint hint MrV*

Bella’s new teething necklace!

A few months back I won a competition on Twitter and the prize was a teething necklace by GUMIGEM. I’d never heard of the company or the concept but it was a freebie so who am I to say no?! I chose my design (the Aurora) and within a few days it arrived.
It’s only in the last few weeks where Bella has really taken an interest in my necklaces, so I put the teething one on too… she forgot all about mine and made a grab for ‘hers’! Instinctively she knew what to do, grabbing the top and shoving it in her mouth, chomping away!!
What a brilliant idea!!!!
The pendant itself looks like glass, you can only really tell it’s silicone by touching it, and the cord is long enough that they can play without choking you, but you can buy a longer one if you want. I’m considering getting another one, they are so pretty and so many shapes and colours to choose from!
Since Bella has discovered ‘her’ necklace (don’t worry I don’t let her wear it) it is safe for me to wear mine without the risk of it being yanked off my neck! We have now taken it to both playgroups, and have forwarded lots of inquisitive mums onto the website so they can invest too!
Here she is glued to the tele (3rd and Bird, incase you wondered!) with her Gumigem!
